Fujifilm GA645Wi (8 Month Review)
So back in April, I wanted to pick up another Medium format camera that had a good lens, light, and have auto focus since most of my cameras are all manual focus and heavy.
I started going through my mental Rolodex of cameras that could meet the requirements and i came across the Fuji GA645WI. Its not too heavy, it has auto focus, autoloading for the film, and a meter inside. Once I picked it out, I started searching eBay for a decently priced one. I bought it on 17th and shot my first roll on the 29th.
First Impressions:
The camera felt nice in my hands and was easy to shoot. It was basically like a oversized point & shoot which I kind of liked. When I wanted to shoot some medium format without lugging around my RZ it was the perfect choice. The lens is very sharp and I got 16 shots on the Fuji instead of 10 like the Mamiya. I carried it around for a while too. It’s just a good camera to have around when you don’t feel like being a hardcore photographer.
After Months of Use:
I only had one problem with the camera. I would miss focus here and there, but that was more user error than camera. besides that, it’s a good camera and fairly easy to use. I can pass it to a random person and show them how to use it in minutes. Once you get use to the lens being wider than usual, shooting is a breeze. I doesn’t get used as much anymore but that’s because I’m not shooting as much as I use too. Shouts out to the Pandemic.
Here are some of my favorite photos from the GA645WI:
